I have wanted to blog for the longest time so hear we go.
Today here in north america is mothers day. One day seat a side to honer mothers. Why it should only be one day with all that mothers do is yet to be determined. I on the other hand see it as anther way of the world reminding me that I am not a mother. I guess my real point is how one day can make any women who does not fit this role because of various reasons feel like they stick out like a sore thumb. At lest this is my experiences.
As I played house and always happily took the as the mother role. My dolls all had both first and middle names. Now I am older watching each of my friends fall into the role as being a mum themselves. Often makes me feel like a outside looking in to a world I long to be in. One of my favourite things to do is spend a time with a one of my closest girl friends and there little ones but at the sometime thinking if only we where both mum's spending time together.
So please as you spend today with your mothers please don't forget there someone out there that long to spend today with her own children.

ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say how much I appreciated this post, it has certainly given me food for thought. So many of us women tend to take motherhood for granted. That either one day we will embrace it or we will choose to let it pass us by. Reading this has helped me realize just how fortunate I am to have such choices, and how important it is never to take it for granted.
